According to the Regina Police Service, city police launched investigations between Aug. 6 and 19 into a series of seven business robberies in the city.

One business on the 2100 block of Pasqua Street was robbed twice, once on Aug. 6 and again on Aug. 11. One robbery occurred on Aug. 15 at a business on the 600 block of Albert Street North; two robberies were reported on Aug. 17, one on the 1800 block of Broad Street and another on the 500 block of Broad Street; another was called in on Aug. 18 from the 500 block of McIntyre Street; and the final one occurred on Aug. 19 at a business on the 2400 block of Dewdney Avenue.

“Although there were similarities in the cases leading police to suspect the crimes were related, it was not until further into the investigations that a potential suspect was identified,” police said in a Monday news release.

The incidents were investigated by members of the robbery unit, patrol and the Crime Reduction Team, leading to the arrest of the 23-year-old man on Friday. The investigation also reportedly linked the same suspect to three recent break-and-enter cases and a theft of auto.

The man’s many charges include nine counts of robbery; nine of disguise with intent; assault with a weapon; three counts of use of an imitation firearm in the commission of an indictable offence; several break and enter charges; theft of a motor vehicle; theft under $5,000 and multiple breaches of a probation order.

His first appearance on the charges was scheduled for Monday morning at Regina Provincial Court.
